How California Fashion Differs From New York, Paris, and Milan

Fashion has the power to empower people from creation to the runway.  Accessories, statement pieces, and color palettes are all forms of self-expression through what we wear.  Our fashion choices often mirror our occupation, interests, and location.

The clothes in our closet not only represent who we are in that current moment, but also the environment around us.

And it all begins with the fashion designers.

Designers create their own signature style by choosing elements that they feel reflect their vision and the wearers of their art.  Every decision made is intentional, to connect and empower those who see themselves in these pieces.

In the fashion capitals of the world, New York, Paris, and Milan, each place has its way of describing fashion staples

New York has the downtown “cool girl” aesthetic on lock, with interesting layers to fit the weather and an experimental vibe to match the trends of the city.

Paris fashion can be described as timeless pieces with high-quality investment basics paired with colors to match anything.

Milan takes from its fashion history of perfectly tailored pieces created with exceptionally crafted fabric, giving off the air of sophisticated elegance.

Now, how does this compare to fashion in California?

Specifically on the West Coast, fashion is often described as an effortless take on luxury.

Chic matching sweatsets, a slicked back bun, and a pair of designer sunnies is the perfect look for a day running errands around downtown Los Angeles.

For a night out, try a vintage denim wash, a sleek black top, and a statement shoe to truly elevate the look.

California fashion is all about embracing comfort while keeping a classy edge.

From the lights of the city to the brisk, salty air at the beach, Californians keep this same sentiment of looking polished without trying too hard.

At California Fashion Week, we want designers who match this West Coast vibe.  Whether you’re seasoned in the industry, just starting, or anywhere in between.  We want your pieces showcased on our runway.
